Rainy Weather!

Jo Winfield writes:

Jane Buck, our secretary, passed her driving test with flying colours recently (congratulations, Jane!), and subsequently both horses and carriages were used at the same time.  I thought this was an event worth recording, and set off camera in hand.  The weather was fine for about the first hour, so having taken a few photos in the yard, I pottered off rather nervously on a buggy to meet the two ensembles at the view-point.  Unfortunately while I was waiting, the rain started, and by the time they arrived it was raining ferociously.  Despite taking shelter under a tree, both the camera and I were soaked, and I was shaking with cold – hence the photos are a bit out of focus, and I was only able to get one photo of both ensembles.  Anyway, here are the photos  – I think they are self-explanatory.  I should add that by the end of the third drive, horses, drivers, passengers and escorts were all dripping wet – but all looked as if they had had a very enjoyable morning in spite of the discomfort.

The extra disabled drivers were staying in The Holton Lee Barn for a week's holiday courtesy of the Green Island Trust, a registered charity providing holidays and respite for disabled and disadvantaged residents of Dorset and Hampshire.
