Volunteering for a Good Cause

Volunteers are urgently needed so that disabled clients don't lose out on their drives.  Especially needed are afternoons from about 1.30 - 3.30.    We can have 3 drives in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.

What does this involve? Harnessing a horse and putting-to the cart, holding the horse or helping to load a wheelchair user.  Generally 3 escorts are required for an ambulant person and 4 for a wheelchair user.  Escorting involves either riding a bicycle or driving a tramper behind the horse and cart down the road, round the woods or up the fields.

Lovely countryside and fresh air and in free time an excellent bird hide is easily accessible.  The British weather is often the reason why drives have to be cancelled, which means that some people who only come once a fortnight, might make it once a month or even longer if we have to cancel because of lack of escorts.

Please encourage friends to come and join us.  No experience is necessary, just a love of horses or working with disabled people.  Come and see what we do and have a go.

Juliet, volunteer
