Gift from our local ASDA

Val, from ASDA presented us with a cheque for £25

East Holton Driving Centre is a self-funding charity; we are all volunteers and we have no paid staff.

Fund-raising is a very important part of running a small, self funding charity like the EHDC, especially when we have the cost of maintaining 3 horses and their equipment.
Most of our volunteers are best suited to handling the horses, enjoying the outdoors and the social aspect, so we are very fortunate to have a supporter like Jo, who was instrumental in accessing the tokens contribution in the ASDA store in Canford Heath. The EHDC was one of three chosen charities that were featured for the months of February and March this year.
Val from ASDA came to the stables recently to present us with their cheque. It was a pleasure for us to take her out on a carriage drive to see round part of the 350 acres Holton Lee estate that we are so very fortunate to be able to use without using public highways.
Our thanks go out to generous shoppers in Asda who supported us with their tokens and for Asda stores for converting them to money for us.

RDA Approval

Maureen passed examination to become an RDA Whip

On Saturday 12th April the SW Regional examiner, Jenny Pennell , visited the Ashtree Stables to examine the suitability of our two new horses, William and Jerry, and Maureen, one of our volunteers, to become a qualified RDA Whip.
Congratulations to them all, for they all passed with flying colours!!
Maureen will be a great asset as an extra driver as both Jane and myself have part time jobs and we can't always fulfill our commitment to our disabled patrons.

At last we can get on with the season's carrige driving for a very full list of people with disabilities. The weather is perfect and the ground is drying up nicely.
