'Pooh' picking done.

'Pooh' picking done it is time to get back to the stables for a cup of tea! Posted by Picasa

Daily 'pooh' pick!

While the horses enjoy their feed all their 'pooh' from the night is collected off the field and stored in heaps outside their grazing area. This keeps pastures clean and reduces the risk of worms. Doing this daily enables Wally to monitor the health of his charges. (Wally in centre) Posted by Picasa

"Marmite" and "Maggie" come in from the field for their morning feed at 0800 hours.

Ash Tree Stables

Welcome To The Ash Tree Stables at Holton Lee near Poole in Dorset, a riding and carriage driving centre for the disabled.

Situated on a unique and diverse site with 350 acres of different habitats of woodland, reedbed, heathland, and saltmarsh overlooking the shores of Poole Harbour the stables are an integral part of Holten Lee, an independant charitable organisation dedicated to empowering and resourcing people, particularly carers and disabled people through creativity, environmental awareness, personal growth and spirituality.

This is just one volunteer helper's view of everyday life at the stables.

I hope that other helpers or riders and drivers might share their experiences here in this blog.

I started helping here in August 06.
