Big Lottery Grant - New Bennington

All the way from Newark in Lincolnshire our brand new Bennington wagonette arrived pristine, and well wrapped at 8.00 am today.

On it's way back to Lincolnshire our old Bennington for refurbishment
Not bad for a well used vehicle that was bought in 1998 and only one set of replacement rubber tyres in that time!

We can now look forward to far more flexibility in 2016 and onwards.
We do need more volunteers with some horse experience to assist our present team if we are to continue to make full use of our four horses.

Coffee Mornings at the Stables

We intend to be available on Wednesday mornings between 10.00 and 12.30 throughout the winter, weather permitting! Nobody wants to venture out if it's blowing a blizzard or squally rain! But, on better days we will probably have one or two horses down for a bit of long reining or similar activity just to keep them on their toes. It is also a good chance to meet volunteers, introduce a bit of training, socialise with some of our participants and generally keep in touch with all involved.

We have introduced a running martingale for these long reining sessions in order to try to dissuade Fletcher from from tossing his head when being driven in the carriage, and he seems to be getting the message. He enjoyed his half hour especially as he receives a small reward in his feed bucket.

Following on the success of last year we have arranged with Richard and Kate at Dylans Restaurant in Lytchett Minster to hold our Chrismas Lunch. with them again this year.

SMOKED SALMON AND PRAWN ROULARDE
Served with salad and horse radish cream

Main Course

TRADITIONAL ROAST TURKEY
Served with all the trimmings, roast potatoes,honey roast parsnips,
orange butter carrots, brussel sprouts, and chestnuts, sausage meat stuffing and roast gravy

SALMON WELLINGTON
Served with prawns, cream and white wine sauce 

ROAST BUTTERNUT SQUASH
Filled with wild rice mushrooms and blue cheese topped with Parmesan crust

ROAST RIB OF BEEF
Served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and selection of fresh vegetables

Desserts

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS PUDDING
Served with Brandy sauce or double cream 

CHRISTMAS BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING
Laced with orange liqueur with a spiced custard
